Peter Andrew

Professor Andrew heads the School of Art’s Advertising Design program. Professor Andrew works very hard to help his students succeed, measuring his own success by theirs. His professional experience includes 12 years of art direction in advertising, publishing and freelance work as a design software trainer for the printing industry. Andrew has extensive freelance graphic design experience for firms in Houston. He is an artist member of the New York Society of Illustrators. Additionally Andrew is an artist consultant in the artists’ materials industry where his clients include brands Liquitex and Winsor & Newton. Andrew received a B.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design and M.F.A. from the University of Massachusetts.

Peter Andrew is the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship and has completed artists’ residencies at the MacDowell Art Colony in New Hampshire, the Ossabaw Foundation in Georgia and the Millay Colony for the Arts in New York. He has also studied with artist Wolf Kahn in Maine and Myron Barnstone in Pennsylvania. Andrew has over 50 solo exhibitions to his credit. Andrew owned an art gallery for 10 years in downtown Nacogdoches, hosting the first SFA Texas National exhibition, juried by artist Leon Golub. His art is currently represented by galleries in Corpus Christi and Houston, Texas, and in Salt Lake City, Utah, and on the Internet at Andrew exhibited artwork by invitation of the Texas State Society at three Presidential Inaugural Galas in Washington, D.C., in 2001, 2005, and 2009, and has painted murals commissioned by healthcare clients Methodist West Houston Hospital, Memorial Hospital Houston, and Fort Belvoir U.S. Army Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia.
