The School of Art at Stephen F. Austin State University is pleased to once again invite high school, middle school, elementary, and community college educators to our campus for the educators’ summer art studio.

This studio experience offers a unique opportunity for teachers interested in the arts to work with professional artists using a variety of media and processes with:

  • A focus on exploring community among Texas arts educators
  • Developing and refining mixed media studio art-making practices
  • Creating art for a travelling exhibition opening in the Reavley Gallery at the Cole art Center on the last day of the workshops
  • The traveling exhibition will conclude with a showing of the work at the 2017 Texas Art Education Association conference in Galveston

Resident tuition covers studio sessions, on-campus housing, breakfast and lunch during full days, and art supplies for the studio sessions. Participants are encouraged to stay in SFA housing at the Lumberjack Landing in order to take full advantage of the collaborative atmosphere of the workshop. Transportation to and from SFA is the responsibility of the participant. Commuters (those participants not staying at Lumberjack Landing) may attend for a reduced tuition that covers studio sessions without lodging or meals.

Twenty four participants will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis. If the workshop is filled, you may request to be placed on a waiting list by faxing the paper registration form without payment to 936-468-4041.

Twenty-one continuing professional education (CPE) credits will be available though the workshops
